He previously served as president of Pro Petroleum\, Inc.\, a wholesale fuel\, transportation company operating in the Western U.S. He currently serves as a director of The CH Foundation. \n\n\n\nHe was a previous director for Plains National Bank and the Governor's Economic Development Board. He also served on the Lubbock Independent School District as a trustee from 1994 to 2007. He previously served as a Regent for the Texas Tech University System from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2019 to 2025\, serving as Chairman from 2023-2025\, as well as a trustee for the Covenant Health System from 2003 to 2008. \n\n\n\nMark earned his BA degree from the University of Texas and his JD from the Texas Tech University School of Law. \n\n\n\nMark and his wife Claudia have three children\, Lauren Hamel\, Emily Owen and Jeffrey Griffin\, as well as seven grandchildren.
