Leadership Program for Professionals

Since its inception in 1975, Leadership Lubbock has continued to provide an outstanding leadership and community orientation program for selected Chamber business leaders. Created especially for the busy professional, Leadership Lubbock participants enjoy a monthly class focused on developing leadership skills while providing participants with a thorough knowledge of our great city and the community we all live in. 

Leadership Lubbock is a premier leadership and community development program. Planning is year-round and class days begin in January, culminating in an end-of-year banquet in December. Event days are designed to educate participants about main industries, introduce them to key business and community leaders as well as make the classes aware of the needs of the community.

Each class highlights a specific industry whether it is health, agriculture, media, or government. Activities include tours, speaker presentations, leadership training, and interactive learning to help participants fully explore the realm of each industry identified. The annual trip to Austin educates participants on the governmental process as well as provides them with a thorough knowledge of the impact governmental affairs has on the Lubbock community.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: 

• Lubbock’s greatest assets are its community leaders. Realizing the need to develop future civic leaders, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce founded the Leadership Lubbock Program in 1975.
• Leadership Lubbock builds a competent leadership pool and develops leadership potential for community activities and engagements.
• Solutions to community needs and problems demand involvement of informed citizens. Leadership Lubbock provides outstanding learning opportunities in an atmosphere that stimulates participants to work together, utilizing both innovative and proven tools to meet challenges.
• Thousands of men and women have participated in Leadership Lubbock, with the majority of those graduates currently living in the Lubbock area. Leadership Lubbock graduates are active in the community and serve on boards of many community service agencies and elected positions.
